TCAR Education Programs, Stephen Von Weller
The pressure inside the abdominal cavity. Pressure is elevated in patients with intra-abdominal hypertension and abdominal compartment syndrome. Abdominal compartment pressure (a.k.a. intra-abdominal pressure, IAP) is most commonly evaluated by measuring bladder pressure. A normal IAP is 0-5 mm Hg. Irreversible tissue injury occurs at pressures of 20-30 mm Hg.
