Damage control laparotomy (DCL)

A form of damage control surgery designed to quickly halt intra-abdominal hemorrhage and control intestinal leaks. The goal of DCL is to restore normal physiology rather than normal anatomy. Definitive surgery is postponed until the patient is hemodynamically and metabolically stable.
