A drop in systolic blood pressure of at least 20 mm Hg or a decrease in diastolic blood pressure of 10 mm Hg (adults) when a patient shifts from a supine to an upright position. Due to vasodilation or low preload. Also known as orthostatic hypotension or orthostasis.
