Damage control surgery (DCS)
TCAR Education Programs, Stephen Von Weller
Any surgical intervention designed to rapidly control hemorrhage and stabilize a patient; NOT intended to be a final, definitive repair of the problem. DCS is commonly performed for thoracic, abdominal, or orthopedic issues. Definitive surgery is postponed until the patient is hemodynamically and metabolically stable.
