Of, relating to, or mediated by, the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve is part of the parasympathetic nervous system. Vagal stimulation slows the heart and lowers blood pressure. Excess vagal stimulation can be a problem for spinal cord injured patients who may become bradycardic and hypotensive in response to anything that stimulates the vagal nerve including suctioning and repositioning.
