Capnometry/Capnography

Both capnometry and capnography measure exhaled carbon dioxide (EtCO2) and provide a number that can be monitored and trended over time. However, capnography also includes a visual waveform, which provides further data regarding ventilation. The exhaled CO2 level will always be lower than arterial (ABG) levels, but usually by no more than 5 mm Hg.
