Peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC)

A form of intravenous access that can be used for a prolonged period of time. Usually inserted in the arm, the tip of the catheter sits in the central circulation in or near the heart. A midline catheter is inserted at the same sites, but is shorter and does not enter the central circulation.
