Spinal motion restriction

A term used to describe the process of protecting the spine and spinal cord in trauma patients. Also referred to as in-line spinal stabilization or spinal immobilization. This process involves special patient handling (e.g., careful log rolling, supine positioning) and the use of immobilization devices such as backboards, scoop stretchers, cervical collars, and head blocks.
