A fine mesh, non-adherent, occlusive gauze dressing--impregnated with a petrolatum product--that clings and conforms to all body contours. In trauma patient care, petroleum impregnated gauze is used to maintains a moist wound environment and to provide an airtight seal around chest tubes and other drains. Trade names include Xeroform and Vaseline gauze.
