Eschar

Necrotic tissue that eventually sheds from the skin. Commonly seen in full-thickness burns or pressure injuries. Eschar is typically tan, brown, or black, and may form a hard, restrictive crust that can compromise circulation (on the extremities), ventilation (on the chest), or abdominal compartment syndrome (on the abdomen).
