Magic pressure numbers, The

An informal term referring to the similarity between intracompartmental pressure numbers in various body spaces including the abdomen, skeletal muscle fascial compartments, and the cranium. A normal pressure in these locations is 0-5 mm Hg. Pressure is elevated at 10-15 mm Hg. At 20-30 mm Hg, capillaries will be squeezed closed, regardless of their location in the body.
